Lending rates#

These are weekly rates on newly disbursed and renewed loans.

Notes

Each is dated to the week in which banks set it. The commercial TL headline series leaves out corporate overdraft accounts and corporate credit cards. The all-commercial series is usually above it. The dotted red line is the policy rate, a step line. The dashed line is the weekly average of TLREF. Commercial USD and EUR loans have their own chart, because a TL rate and an FX rate never share one axis.

Deposit rates#

These are weekly rates on new TL term deposits, by maturity.

Notes

Each is dated to the week in which banks set it. Savings (real-person) and commercial deposits have separate rates. USD and EUR deposit rates have their own panel, because they never share an axis with a TL rate. The rate board puts every headline series of this page in one table.

Margins#

These margins are the loan rate minus the deposit rate for three pairs, and the loan and deposit rates minus the cost of funding.

Notes

Each is put in the context of its own history. The bank rates (bie_kt100h and bie_mt100h) are effective, compound annual weighted averages, as the CBRT methodology for weekly rate statistics states. The policy rate and TLREF are simple annual quotes on an actual-over-365-days basis. The funding-cost panel converts them to the compound annual equivalent, (1 + r ÷ 365)^365 − 1, before it subtracts. So every spread on this page uses one basis. The loan-minus-deposit panel needs no conversion, because both sides already use the compound annual basis.

Credit conditions#

In the CBRT Bank Loans Tendency Survey, a negative net percentage means that banks tightened credit standards on net.

Notes

A positive one means that they eased. For loan demand, a positive value means that demand rose. For standards, net percentage = share of banks that eased − share that tightened. For demand, net percentage = share that reported higher demand − share that reported lower demand. This follows the CBRT metadata. The US Federal Reserve survey of loan officers uses the opposite sign. The archive starts in Oct 2005. The latest survey is 1 Jul 2026.

Deposits#

The deposits that are subject to reserve requirements are 61% in TL and 39% in foreign currency.

Notes

The FX share (dollarisation) is the line to watch. The FX-protected deposit scheme (KKM), which started in December 2021, has now almost entirely unwound. The CBRT publishes the stocks of lira and foreign currency deposits in thousand ₺ and the foreign currency components in millions. The site converts both to billions.

FX deposits subject to reserves, by currency#

The dollar and other bands are in dollars. The euro band is in euros. The chart leaves out the precious metal deposit accounts, which the CBRT lists separately. So the bands do not add up to the CBRT total.
